Yaya Toure set to join Olympic Donetsk as coach

Jan 19, 2021 - 12:00 pm By Staff Reporter Ivory Coast legend Yaya Toure is set to take the next step in his career after reportedly landing a job among the coaching staff at Ukrainian side Olympic Donetsk. The former FC Barcelona and Manchester City star (37) has been without a club since leaving China League One side Qingdao Huanghai in January last year and appears to have hung up his playing boots after being offered a coaching role in Donetsk. Toure enjoyed a spell in the city with the now-defunct Metalurh Donetsk during the early stages of his career, and looks set to return to the region to join neighbours Olympic Donetsk after his agent Dimitri Seluk confirmed that the move was imminent.

Men s Football Ferdinand calls for tough action against those who post racist comments online

ANTON FERDINAND says those who post online hate must be held to account, just as footballers are for the material that they share on their social media platforms. The former QPR defender has been on the receiving end of vile abuse since his involvement in a high-profile disciplinary case involving former England captain John Terry. Ferdinand addressed a working group made up of football authorities, law enforcement and social media companies who will meet on an ongoing basis to tackle online hate, but he believes the double standards must be addressed. “As footballers we are held accountable for our actions all the time  why aren’t the people that are sending abuse, and the social media platforms, held to account too?” he said.
