B.A.S.S. releases Nation regional lineup
Monday, January 11, 2021
B.A.S.S. today announced dates and locations for its five 2021 B.A.S.S. Nation Regional Championship events. Each event will provide opportunities for everyday anglers to qualify for the Nation Championship and a shot at one of three berths in the 2022 Bassmaster Classic.
As weve seen in the past with anglers like Paul Mueller and Brandon Palaniuk, who both won Elite Series events last year, the B.A.S.S. Nation can be the gateway to a stellar career in professional fishing, said B.A.S.S. Nation director Jon Stewart. Once you reach the Nation Championship, youre fishing for a chance to fish in the Bassmaster Classic, and were excited this year to offer even more chances for anglers to do that. Weve put together a great, really unique schedule.

Rapala Australia has signed Bassmaster Elite Series competitor and Australia native Carl Jocumsen to a sponsorhship deal.
We are proud of how hard Carl has worked and how far he has come over the past 10 years in the U.S. and are happy to help him strive to achieve his goal of fishing the Bassmaster Classic, said Tim Morgan, Rapala Australia national sales and brand manager. Now that he is using Rapala, I am sure he will achieve the goal even sooner.
The only Australian to qualify for and compete in the Elite Series, Jocumsen remains the all-time tournament-money-earner back home in Australia, despite not having fished a competition there for more than a decade.
COVID claims Pack
Mark Pack, a renowned bait-maker, Lake Fork guide and former FLW Tour winner, died Saturday after a month-long battle with COVID-19. He was 59.
Pack competed for 10 seasons on the FLW Tour (2000-09). He won the 2008 event at Beaver Lake, outdueling runner-up and Bass Fishing Hall of Famer George Cochran. He d previously fished a couple of seasons on the Bassmaster Top 150 trail and made one Classic appearance, finishing 17th in the 2000 edition at Lake Michigan out of Chicago.
As the founder and president of Lake Fork Trophy Bait and Tackle Company, he was the driving force in the tungsten-weight revolution of the early 2000s after learning of the rare metal s properties from a guiding client who worked in the machinery industry. He was also the developer of the Structure Guard, a single-strand weedguard attached to the hook below the barb by a small plastic band, which allowed a jig to slip more easily through heavy cover.
Younger Frazier Overcame Rough Start To Make Elites
Thursday, January 7, 2021
Marc Frazier double-qualified for the 2021 Elite Series via the Bassmaster Opens.
By John Johnson
BassFan Senior Editor Marc Frazier s second season competing in the Bassmaster Opens got off to an inauspicious start with a 112th-place finish at Florida s Kissimmee Chain in January 2020. The Georgia resident and younger brother of Elite Series pro Micah Frazier came to the sport after a 4-year college baseball career, however, so he was well-acquainted with the concept of putting one bad outing behind him and moving on.
The rest of the year went a heck of a lot better and he became a double-qualifier for the Elite Series, finishing 4th on both the overall points list (Eastern and Central divisions combined) and in the Central race. This year, he and Micah will join Canadians Chris and Cory Johnston as brother tandems on the tour.
