IPSWICH TOWN AND Republic of Ireland midfielder Alan Judge has said there was “no need” for Darren Drysdale to apologise after an on-field incident during which the English referee briefly squared up to him amid a penalty appeal in the 90th minute.

Ipswich manager Paul Lambert wants the EFL to investigate referee Darren Drysdale s confrontation with his player Alan Judge during Tuesday’s League One match against Northampton.
The 49-year-old Lincolnshire official appeared to square up to Judge and lean his head into the Republic of Ireland international after the midfielder’s appeal for a penalty had been turned down.
Lambert told talkSPORT on Wednesday: I’ve texted Mike Jones (EFL head of referees) this morning to say have a look at the footage of the head thing.

Halsey Expects PGMOL Investigation Into Referee Drysdale Squaring Up to Judge

Former Premier League official Mark Halsey has accused referee Darren Drysdale of a “lack of self-control in the incident in which he squared up to Town midfielder Alan Judge during the 0-0 draw with Northampton and expects the Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) to launch an investigation.
Drysdale pushed his face into Judge’s as he booked the Irishman for what he saw as a dive and had to be held back by shocked players, among them Flynn Downes who appears to be shown his first yellow card for doing so.
