JOHANNESBURG - Newly installed Wits University vice-chancellor, Professor Zeblon Vilakazi, on Thursday said that he hoped South African universities would one day lead scientific developments on the COVID-19 vaccine front.
During a virtual ceremony, Vilakazi was officially installed as the 16th Wits Vice-Chancellor - nine months after he was appointed to replace Professor Adam Habib.

Trio Sobrenna Fourth Year Recital

Trio Sobrenna – violinist Sophia Park, cellist Brent Davis, and pianist Anna Wang – will be celebrating eight semesters of collaboration in the Music Department’s first-ever fourth year chamber ensemble recital. The recital will feature Claude Debussy’s Piano Trio in G Major, Paul Schoenfield’s Café Music, and Franz Schubert’s Piano Trio No. 2 in E-Flat Major. Since forming in 2017, Trio Sobrenna has worked together in the Chamber Music Seminar program at UVA for a full eight semesters, receiving coachings from Professors David Sariti, Adam Carter, Daniel Sender, and Ayn Balija. Within the program, the trio has studied a variety of pieces, including works by Felix Mendelssohn, Johannes Brahms, Anton Arensky, and Antonín Dvořák. The ensemble has also performed in mastercla
