Ontario assessing whether Pfizer jab can be stored at higher temperatures

iPolitics By Iain Sherriff-Scott. Published on Feb 19, 2021 4:31pm A vial of Pfizer s COVID-19 vaccine (Torstar file photo) Ontario is investigating whether Pfizer’s COVID vaccine can be stored at warmer temperatures after the drug-maker submitted data to U.S. regulators suggesting its shot doesn’t need to be stored at -70 C, as was previously thought. Early on Friday, Pfizer and BioNTech announced they’d sent new data to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) showing that the vaccine, which the two companies developed together, can be stored between -25 C and -15 C. This could make distribution and storage much easier for governments, which have been scrambling to snap up costly, ultra-low-temperature freezers.
