Four Tipperary Towns To Have Waste-Water Monitored For Covid-19 Image by Thomas Hoang from Pixabay Four towns in Tipperary will have their wastewater sampled in a new National SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) Wastewater Surveillance Programme, that has been developed by a specialist team involving with input from the Health Protection Surveillance Centre, the HSE, the National Virus Reference Laboratory (NVRL), UCD School of Biomolecular and Biomedical Science, and Irish Water. The surveillance will begin in early May at locations in Clonmel, Nenagh, Thurles and Roscrea. In total 68 locations across Ireland will be included. This wastewater surveillance programme will be an important part of the work being undertaken to monitor the prevalence of COVID-19 in communities across Ireland. The programme will measure the level of SARS-CoV-2 in wastewater will effectively operate as an early warning system for future possible waves of COVID-19 infection.

Two additional cases of Covid-19 confirmed in Clare April 30, 2021 THE Health Protection Surveillance Centre has today been notified of two additional cases of Covid-19 in Clare and four additional deaths related to Covid-19 nationally. There has been a total of 4,903 Covid-19 related deaths in Ireland. As of midnight, Thursday, April 29, the HPSC has been notified of 545 confirmed cases of COVID-19. There is now a total of 248,870 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Ireland. Of the cases notified today: 294 are men / 244 are women 77% are under 45 years of age The median age is 29 years old 264 in Dublin, 58 in Kildare, 50 in Cork, 29 in Donegal, 28 in Galway and the remaining 116 cases are spread across 21 other counties .
