The APC stalwarts, who announced the commencement of a national campaign to promote initiatives of President Buhari ahead of the 2023 general election, said the aim is to present the achievements with facts and empirical evidences.
“As committed members of the APC, we are convinced that since May 29, 2015, when the government of President Muhammadu Buhari was inaugurated, landmark initiatives have been and are being implemented.
“In comparative terms, President Buhari’s government has recorded more achievements within six years than all the previous governments under the PDP between 1999 and 2015.
“We intend to present these achievements with facts and empirical evidences.
“On weekly basis, we will invite Nigerians to engage the issues based on specific highlights of work being executed.

Last time I checked, Nigerian governors have up to 12 different forums dedicated ostensibly to pursue governance and public affairs issues but which in actual fact are solely to achieve their own personal and collective aims.
Whereas the classical definition of democracy in rough and ready use is “Government of the people, for the people and by the people’’, for all practical purposes in our own experience in Nigeria we might as well defined it as ‘’Government of the Governors, for the Governors and by the Governors’’.

This much has come to view against the immediate background of recent high profile meetings held by the Southern Governors Forum in Asaba the Delta state capital in which several issues like open grazing and restructuring of the country were discussed and decided, and the Nigerian Governors Forum where the Governors gratuitously decided without consultations with other stakeholders, the price at which petrol should sell in the country.
Chairman of the Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) and Kebbi State Governor, Senator Atiku Bagudu, in a statement, last Friday, declared that all party members from all zones were free to contest any position in the next general election.
But credible sources in the APC confided in our correspondent on Monday in Abuja, that some APC governors and other party stalwarts were not comfortable with the development.
One of the sources said the governors, especially those from the South, were not comfortable with the statement alleging that there was no official meeting of the governors where the issue of zoning was extensively deliberated upon and decisions reached before the statement.
