The Director-General of the Progressives Governors Forum, Dr. Salihu Lukeman, has recommended severe sanctions for security personnel, traditional and religious leaders in communities ravaged by kidnappings and banditry.
He described last Friday’s abduction of over 500 students of Government Secondary School Kankara, Katsina State, as a shameful national security embarrassment.
According to him, none of these spectacular security breaches could happen without some form of collaboration with security, community and religious leaders in affected areas.

The Director General of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), an umbrella body of Governors elected on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), Salihu Lukman, has said that time has come for security agencies to be made to render account of their stewardship to Nigerians. He said also that officers of the various security agencies who have compromised by collaborating with the terrorists should be made to face life jail or death sentence, as punishment and deterrent to others. In a statement he issued yesterday to lament the last weekend abduction of about 500 students of the Government Science Secondary School (GSSS), Kankara, Katsina State by armed bandits, Lukman expressed worry that with the trend of insecurity in the country, it has become evident that every Nigerian is at risk.

The Director General of Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), Salihu Lukman, has alleged that the choice of Yemi Osinbajo, as the running mate to President Muhammadu Buhari in 2015 election, has undermined the capacity of All Progressives Congress (APC) to exercise strong influence in decisions of Buhari administration, both in his first and second term. In a statement issued yesterday by the PGF DG, he claimed that Osinbajo was chosen as Buhariâs running mate outside the partyâs formal structures, which he said could be deliberate, regretting that since that decision in 2015, little or no efforts has been made in the business of party building, which was practically suspended.

Buhari, Tinubu, govs, ACF, NPAN mourn Leadership publisher, Nda-Isaiah

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Saturday, expressed shock and sadness over the death of the publisher of Leadership Newspapers, Sam Nda-Isaiah.
Nda-Isaiah died on Friday evening at 58.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina, in a statement titled ‘Nda-Isaiah; He was a friend and ally, says President Buhari,’ said Buhari condoled with Nda-Isaiah’s family, friends and associates.
“The country has lost a man of conviction, a resolute and dogged believer in a better Nigeria. He will be sorely missed. This is a massive fish gone out of the media ocean,” Buhari was further quoted as saying of the pharmacist, renowned columnist, and one-time presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
