Following the 5th December 2020 Imo North Senatorial by-election to replace the late Benjamin Uwajumogu, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared victory in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC) without proclaiming a winner. This was due to a multiplicity of cases by APC members claming to be the partyâs candidate and the various reliefs they were able to procure from different courts. But in a recent petition signed by the partyâs acting National Chairman and governor of Yobe, Mai Mala Buni, APC accused Supreme Court Justices Mohammed Dattijo, Abdu Aboki and Helen Ogunwumiju of conspiring with the Peopleâs Democratic Party (PDP) to deliver the senate seat. This grave allegation has already elicited a response from the apex court with dire implications for the people of Imo North and democracy in Nigeria.

Gunmen on Wednesday attacked a former Central Bank Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, and killed three police orderlies attached to him.
The incident reportedly happened in the professor’s home town, Isiofia, in the Aguata Local Government Area of Anambra State.
An eyetwitnes said, “A couple of minutes ago, some gunmen disrupted an interactive session between Isuofia youths and a former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo at the town’s civic centre.
“Three policemen were shot dead in meeting”
A media aide to Soludo, who pleaded not to be identified, confirmed the incident.
The politician, who is contesting this year’s governorship election in the state, said though all the political calculations in the state favoured Anambra South, at no time did stakeholders meet and agreed that there should be a power shift to the South in the next election.
“I keep telling people that we are going into the election with our report cards. We are going to present what APC has been able to do in the Southeast and Anambra in particular. We are going to put it side by side with what others have done.
“Our people are not satisfied with the governance of the state with what it is today. It’s like having married this man for some time, let us try this husband. PDP has ruled our state, APGA has ruled our state.
