Of the 11 pro-tem committee members in SUP, at least 8 have had former affiliations with the Reform Party. Mr Zhu, Mr Soh and Ms Noraini were part of the Reform Party team which contested in the 5-men Ang Moh Kio Group Representation Constituency in the 2020 General Election. Reform Party’s secretary-general Kenneth Jeyaretnam and its current chairman, Charles Yeo, were the others who contested in the same constituency.

Soon after the electoral contest, the Reform Party announced that Mr Zhu and Ms Noraini, who was its Treasurer, were stepping down. Mr Zhu however contested the announcement alleging “undemocratic” means were used by the Party to oust him from Office. Mr Jeyaretnam disputed this saying, “(Mr Zhu) was removed by a unanimous vote of the CEC”.

It s been a strange year, to say the least. With much of 2020 overshadowed by Covid-19 and most of our biggest milestones pegged to our case numbers (can you believe we re finally in Phase 3?), the year seems to have gone by excruciatingly slowly.
To celebrate the end of 2020, let s take a trip down memory lane and recall all the stories that had us talking this year.

Dr Tan Cheng Bock, who led the Progress Singapore Party team that contested in West Coast GRC, at Teban Gardens Market and Food Centre on July 12, two days after the polls. His team lost to the PAP team helmed by Minister S. Iswaran.

Singapore The Progress Singapore Party (PSP) held its first virtual fund-raising concert on Sunday evening (Dec 20) and brought in more than S$100,000 that, as one of the hosts said, will go toward its efforts to build “a more just and compassionate society”.
The star of the show was, without question, party founder and secretary-general Dr Tan Cheng Bock. Among the two songs he performed was Glen Campbell’s Try A Little Kindness.
Dr Tan told the people tuning in from their homes: “I think this song carried a lot of meaning for me because over the past two years, when I was trying to start this political party, I had so many kind souls coming to me and helping me. And in times when I was really down, they were there for me.”
