Faced with a sharp revenue decline and an uncertain year ahead due to COVID-19, the Aquatarium is asking Brockville for $450,000 more than its base city funding.
“These are extraordinary times and they’re going to require extraordinary measures,” Mary Jean McFall, chairwoman of the non-profit tourism attraction’s board of directors, told Brockville council at a virtual meeting Tuesday evening.

The Broad Street marine interpretive centre is one of six outside “community partners” included in the city’s latest budget report. Together, those partners are seeking funding increases that could bring the city’s overall tax levy increase, which now sits at 0.24 per cent, up to 1.62 per cent.
