A man has been disqualified from driving after he was caught riding a souped-up e-scooter at 30mph while drunk in Lewisham. Clinton Henry, 28, of Boone Street, was seen pulling away from traffic lights and accelerating abruptly on Molesworth Street at around 12.30am on Sunday, April 11. He was stopped by police, admitting he had no licence or insurance, claiming he didn’t know they were required for e-scooters. Henry also refused to provide a roadside breath sample and was arrested. He later provided a breath specimen containing 77 micrograms of alcohol per 100ml of breath; the legal limit is 35 micrograms. The e-scooter – which had no lights on and a seat fitted – was also seized by police.
