The BJP is moving one step closer to fulfilling its vision on Gairsain through administration changes.
The declaration of Gairsain as the third commissionerate has seen the Congress and the AAP opposing the move.
Last week, the Trivendra Singh Rawat-led government in Uttarakhand made an announcement. Gairsain was declared a new administrative division of the state, a third commissionerate.
A commissioner and a DIG will be deployed in Gairsain.
The âsurpriseâ announcement (as how a section of the media sees it) has come after Garsain was declared as Uttarakhand s summer capital last year. The mandal is an assimilation of two districts each from Garhwal mandal and Kumaon mandal. These are: Almora and Bageshwar (in Kumaon) and Rudrapyarag and Chamoli (in Garhwal).

A Congress MP from Assam has sent a legal notice to a party MLA for allegedly making defamatory and derogatory remarks against him in a social media post.
The development has come as an embarrassment for the Congress ahead of the three-phase Assembly elections in March-April.
Abdul Khaleque, the MP from Barpeta, has demanded an “unconditional apology in the form of an affidavit sworn and attested before an executive magistrate” from Sherman Ali Ahmed, who represents the Congress from the Baghbar Assembly constituency.

Barpeta MP Abdul Khaleque has demanded an “unconditional apology in the form of an affidavit sworn and attested before an executive magistrate” from Sherman Ali Ahmed, who represents the Congress from the Baghbar Assembly constituency.
The MP’s counsel has also threatened to initiate “criminal and civil action” if Mr. Ahmed does not tender an apology and delete the social media post immediately. The MLA had accused Mr. Khaleque of favouring a local contractor to secure a Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana phase III contract for a 7-km road in Barpeta district. The MLA alleged that the contractor had received the contract for the same road in 2008 under another proje
Prime Minister Narendra Modi Wednesday reviewed projects worth Rs 44,545 crore in 12 states as he chaired the 36th Pragati meeting. During the meeting, he also reviewed the programme for elimination of single use plastic, a Prime Minister s Office statement said. In the meeting, 10 agenda items were taken up for review including eight projects, grievance relating to one scheme and one programme, it said. Among the eight projects, three were from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, two from Railway Ministry, one each from Ministry of Power, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas and Ministry of Home Affairs. These eight projects, with a cumulative cost of about Rs 44,545 crore, pertained to 12 states West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu, Odisha, Jharkhand, Sikkim, Uttar Pradesh, Mizoram, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Meghalaya, the PMO said.
