New Delhi [India], January 30 (ANI): The Economic Survey has compared those states that implemented Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY) and those which did not and says it has reflected significant improvements in several health outcomes in states that implemented the scheme.
It says that the sates which adopted the programme experienced greater penetration of health insurance, experienced a reduction in infant and child mortality rates, realized improved access and utilization of family planning services, and greater awareness about HIV/AIDS.
The Economic Survey 2020-21 was tabled by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in Parliament on Friday.

New Delhi, Jan 29 : President Ram Nath Kovind on Friday dubbed the disrespect shown to the Tricolour at the Red Fort during the farmers tractor rally on January 26 as unfortunate and urged people to abide by rules and regulations.
In his address to members of both Houses of Parliament at the start of the Budget Session, Kovind pointed out that the Indian Constitution, which gave the citizens the right to freedom of expression, also directed them to take law of the land equally seriously.

‘Households with insurance rise 54%’
The Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) contributed to improvement in many health outcomes in States that implemented the ambitious programme the Centre had launched more than two years ago to provide healthcare access to most vulnerable sections, according to the Economic Survey 2020-21.
“Though only a short time has elapsed since introduction, the effects identified by the Survey underscore the potential of the programme to significantly alter the health landscape in the country, especially for the vulnerable sections,” the Survey presented on Friday said.

New Delhi: Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat and Bihar contained the spread of Covid-19 the best. Kerala, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh have saved the most lives. Maharashtra has under-performed the most in restricting the spread of cases and in saving lives. These are the conclusions of the Economic Survey 2021 on the relative performance of Indian states during the pandemic.
Making a strong argument in favour of India’s early and stringent lockdown, the annual document on the economic health of the country, which was tabled in Parliament Friday, credited that decision both with India’s success in managing the pandemic and affecting a “V-shaped” economic recovery.
