According to the government spokesman, the chief minister plans to launch many beneficial schemes through the Department of Fisheries, which will not only promote fisheries business but will also provide jobs to the needy that will help them become self-reliant once again.
NCDC’s training program for fishermen drawing huge response
NCDC’s one day awareness cum training program for fishermen across states is drawing huge response. The training is imparted under the newly launched fisheries flagship scheme– Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMSSY).
The Yojana aims at focused development and promotion of seaweed cultivation and value chain with requisite financial allocations. LINAC branches of NCDC are playing an active role in this exercise.
Such programs were organized in Panjim, Goa and Morena, Madhya Pradesh, in which scores of fishermen participated. Earlier such an event was organized in Chandipur, Odisha in which Union Minister Pratap Sarangi participated.

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has developed state of art tools for cyclone warning services, and has demonstrated its capability to provide early warning for Cyclones with high precision and has earned accolades globally and nationally for very effective state of art early warning system for monitoring and prediction of cyclones. The cyclone forecast accuracy has significantly improved in recent years as has been demonstrated during cyclones Phailin (2013), Hudhud (2014), Vardah (2016), Titli (2018), Fani& Bulbul (2019) and Amphan, Nisarga&Nivar (2020). During recent years, the loss of life due to cyclone has been drastically reduced being limited to double digit figures.

Indian Pompano and Orange Spotted Grouper fish varieties have good demand in domestic market, says Principal Scientist
Indian Council of Agricultural Research-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI) has gone for the third cage harvest of Indian Pompano and Orange Spotted Grouper, here on Friday.
The cages were lifted in the presence of C. Suvarna, Chief Executive of the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB).
