A Duxbury gym teacher accused of raping a student has been fired as police investigate more than a dozen anonymous tips related to the case, according to news outlets.
A lawsuit was filed last week against the school district and Duxbury Middle School physical education teacher John Blake by the parents of Parker Foley, who attended Duxbury Public Schools until he left the district in 9th grade. Foley died of a drug overdose last year at age 27, according to The Associated Press.

The parents of a Duxbury man who died of a drug overdose last year have sued their son’s middle school gym teacher who they allege repeatedly raped him.
1. COVID hits the city hard
It would be wrong not to include the coronavirus pandemic on any list of top stories this year, but that s especially true in Brockton. The city was a top coronavirus hot spot in the state early in the pandemic, long having the second-highest infection rate. The city was disproportionately affected by the highly contagious disease, striking nursing homes, the homeless shelter, businesses and young and old residents. COVID-19 has also especially impacted communities of color and Brockton has the fifth-highest concentration of people of color among cities and towns throughout Massachusetts. The city ranks fourth in household size and also has more front-line workers than any other community in the state. More than 8,000 residents have contracted the disease and at least 340 have died from it.

A Plymouth Superior Court judge denied a motion to dismiss a grand jury’s decision to indict David Robbins the Onset man arrested for killing 33-year-old Yves Roux Jr. in November 2019 for first-degree murder.
Robbins’ defense attorney John Amabile filed the motion to dismiss and argued in support of the motion at a pretrial hearing on Monday, Dec. 14.
Before Judge Debra Squires-Lee, Amabile argued that the evidence presented to the grand jury did not “sufficiently establish probable cause” that Robbins committed first-degree murder when he allegedly stabbed Roux on Main Street following an incident of road rage.
In the motion to dismiss, Amabile argued that Robbins, a 66-year-old Wareham resident, did not commit “an intentional killing with deliberate premeditation or by extreme atrocity and cruelty,” which is one part of first-degree murder.
