BER is now the first German airport to receive the Airport Health Accreditation from the international airport association Airports Council International (ACI). As part of this certification, ACI assesses the hygiene measures and procedures that have been introduced at airports after the COVID-19 pandemic began. Shortly before, BER was also the first German airport to be certified by Deutsches Hygienezertifikat. Both certificates guarantee a high level of safety for passengers during their stay in Terminals 1 and 5 of the new airport.
