The D.I.C.E. awards have returned again this year, awarding developers for their hard work on some of the best games released last year. This time around, Hades takes home the GOTY trophy, and a bunch of PlayStation exclusives were also highlighted.
As far as PlayStation exclusives go, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us Part 2, Dreams, Final Fantasy VII Remake and Spider-Man: Miles Morales all won awards this year, marking another huge year for PlayStation. Half-Life: Alyx, Valve’s grand return to the Half-Life IP, also took away two awards. Nintendo went on to win Family Game of the Year thanks to Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Unfortunately, for the first time in 22 years of D.I.C.E., no one was inducted into the Hall of Fame.

It may be April 2021, but we re not yet finished celebrating 2020 s games. The D.I.C.E. Awards (unrelated to Battlefield developer DICE) took place on April 22, and the 24th annual show awarded Hades with the overall Game of the Year Award.
Greg Kasavin, the head of Hades developer Supergiant Games and former EIC here at GameSpot, reacted to the win on Twitter. He said, This means so much, especially knowing it was chosen by a jury of our peers. We were incredibly fortunate to have been able to stick together as a small team and keep working on Hades last year, and we re so grateful that it struck a chord like this.

Hades walked away with five awards, including Game of the Year. Square Enix’s
Final Fantasy VII Remake won RPG of the Year.
