Lexington man dies from injuries sustained in January shooting

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â A Lexington man who was shot last month near Meadowbrook Park has died from his injuries, the Fayette County coroner said Thursday.
Police responded at about 10:24 p.m. on Jan. 25 to the 300-block of Harvard Drive to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, they found 20-year-old Kobe Persley with multiple gunshot wounds.
Persley was taken to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where he died at 5:24 a.m. Thursday.

Feb. 1 A Lexington man has died after being shot outside the City Center downtown Sunday night, according to the Fayette County coroner s office.
Lonnie Oxendine, 22, died at the University of Kentucky Chandler Hospital Sunday, not long after he was shot outside the City Center.
Police were called to the outdoor area between City Center and the Lexington Marriott at City Center around 5:15 p.m., and they found Oxendine with life-threatening injuries, Lexington police Lt. Samantha Moore said.
It was the fourth Lexington homicide in 2021. It s the first time Lexington has had four homicides in January since 2017, according to Lexington police statistics.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (LEX 18) â The Lexington Police Department announced on Thursday that it has charged a man in connection with a shooting that happened on Tates Creek Road. Joseph Ivy, 20, was arrested and charged with Wanton Endangerment 1
st (3 counts), Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, Criminal Mischief 3
rd (2 counts), Fleeing or Evading Police 2
nd, Tampering with Physical Evidence, and Trafficking in Marijuana.

According to police, around 3:15 p.m. Thursday, January 14, officers responded to the intersection of Tates Creek and Rockbridge for a call of shots fired and a collision. Witnesses told police that one of the shooters got out of a wrecked car and fled on foot into a neighborhood. Following a foot pursuit, officers apprehended Ivy and located a firearm.
