BILLINGS â Montana s construction industry has two problems - supply and demand.
There arenât enough workers, or applicants. So the Montana Contractors Association is trying to solve both problems with one solution: a Billings-area pilot program called Build Montana.
âImagine that I wanted to come work for you and I didnât know anything about the machine, posed John Hurd, the program s instructor. If youâre the owner, youâre like, âI have to teach you how to safely be around the job site, how to get around the machine.â These folks are going to have a leg up.
Marty Schuma has been elected as president of The Montana Contractors Association for 2021.
Schuma is president of Dick Anderson Construction. He joined the firm in 1992 as a project manager and was named president in 2009. He is the company s most senior LEED Accredited Professional, which reflects the firmâs commitment to environmentally responsible design and construction.
He is also the project manager for some of the most beautiful and technologically challenging buildings the company has built. DAC has offices in Helena, Billings, Bozeman, Great Falls and Missoula in Montana, Redmond, Oregon and Sheridan, Wyoming.
Schuma has been a board member for the MCA since 2015, and he represents the municipal/utility division. He replaces Bob Warren of Schellinger Construction (Columbia Falls), as president.
