Montana Uni System Preparing to Allow Concealed Guns on Campus Photo: koi88/Shutterstock April 12, 2021 The Montana University System (MUS) is asking neighboring states and the public for input on creating a framework for the implementation of a new law that allows the concealed carry of firearms on campus. The legislation was first discussed in a hearing earlier this year. Republican Governor Greg Gianforte signed the bill into law on February 18, and it will go into effect on Montana’s campuses by June 1. Creating Framework for Implementation The university system has until next month’s meeting to create a policy for the implementation of the law in resident and campus life particularly the standards and protocols that need to be enforced if students want to carry firearms around campus.
