India-US joint exercise Yudh Abhyas begins in Rajasthan

Published: Monday, February 8, 2021, 17:17 [IST] Jaipur, Feb 08: India-US joint exercise Yudh Abhyas commenced at Mahajan Field Firing Range, Rajasthan on Monday, which will continue till February 21. Representational Image Advance Light Helicopter WSI RUDRA , MI-17, Chinooks, Stryker Vehicles of US and BMP-II Mechanised Infantry Combat Vehicles of India among those to be utilised in the exercise. The US Army contingent, comprising 270 soldiers, on Saturday arrived at the Indian Air Force office in Suratgarh to participate in the 16th edition of the joint military exercise Yudh Abhyas 20 . The Indian Army extended a warm welcome as per military etiquettes to the US Army contingent, followed by an exchange of pleasantries between contingent commanders and soldiers of both armies.

Notably, the fortnight-long exercise is being held near the India-Pakistan border. Around 250 soldiers from each side will participate in the exercise from February 8-21 at Mahajan field firing range. Advance Light Helicopter WSI ‘RUDRA’, MI-17 and Chinook choppers, Stryker Vehicles of US & BMP-II Mechanised Infantry Combat Vehicles of India and other military assets will take part in the Indo-US joint military exercise.

The contingent reached Suratgarh in a special aircraft to take part in the exercise which will be the 16th edition of the US military exercise under the military exchange program and begin on Monday. US Army contingent arrives at IAF (Media Co-ordination Centre), Suratgarh for the 16th edition of the annual bilateral joint exercise with Indian Army from February 8-21. Post COVID-19 protocols, will move to Foreign Training Node, Mahajan Field Firing Range (MFFR), the Indian Army’s South Western Command tweeted.
