Will ready 1,200 Covid beds by end of April: East Singhbhum DC | Ranchi News

Jamshedpur: East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Suraj Kumar on Tuesday said the district administration aims to ready 1,200 Covid-19 beds by April end in view of a spike in the number of fresh cases. Till Monday, the district had 661 active Covid-19 cases. There are 440 Covid-19 beds functional in the district at present at Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (110 beds), Tata Main Hospital (300 beds) and Tata Motors Hospital (30 beds). Of the 440, only 36 are critical care unit beds. “Tata Motors Hospital will soon add 50 more Covid beds. Meanwhile, Covid Care Centres are also coming up at all private hospitals,” Kumar said. As many as 50 isolation beds in each of the nine blocks have been readied by the administration and the Community Health Centres in the blocks have been asked to activate oxygen-equipped beds.

Improper fire-fighting equipment at MGMMCH | Ranchi News

JAMSHEDPUR: Kolhan division s biggest state-run hospital, Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital (MGMMCH), does not have proper fire fighting equipment. the district s fire-fighting department has revealed. During a recent inspection, a team from the department found the fire-fighting equipment of the healthcare institute were not updated after 2013. Members of the team said a small fire-fighting system was installed in 2013 but it cannot handle major fires. They further said it would be difficult to reach every corner of the hospital in case of a fire as the approach roads and height of the entrances are very low. The entrances are only 12-feet high instead of the required 16 feet, a team member said.

Jamshedpur/Bokaro/Koderma: Within hours of arriving at Ranchi’s Birsa Munda Airport, vials of the Covishield vaccine started reaching the districts on Wednesday, with East Singhbhum, Bokaro and Ranchi districts (which recorded the maximum number of Covid cases) being the first ones to receive the consignments. In East Singbhum, which received 800 vials for its 8,000 health workers who registered themselves for the inoculation, the vaccines were stored at the cold chain point in Sakchi. “Preparations have been completed for the transportation of the vials from the Sakchi store to Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, (MGMMCH), Tata Main Hospital, (TMH), sadar hospital, Pursudih, Urban Health Centre, (Birsanagar) and the community health centres in Baharagora, Ghatshila, Potka and Patamda,” additional chief medical officer Dr Sahir Pal said.
