A police constable was held by the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau in Malwani, on Tuesday, for allegedly demanding Rs 10 lakh as a bribe from a contractor.
According to a news agency, the contractor had constructed some illegal tenements in
Malvani area.

The constable, Ganesh Salunkhe (38), demanded Rs 10 lakh from the contractor and assured him that he would not face a case under the Maharashtra Prevention of Dangerous Activities Act.
A senior police officer informed that the contractor had already paid him Rs 3 lakh.
However, he then informed the ACB about the
bribery, and Salunkhe was held in a trap while accepting Rs 1 lakh in

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a first information report against Kishor Wagh, who is the husband of state BJP vice-president Chitra Wagh, in a disproportionate assets (DA) case.
The case has been registered against Wagh, who was an employee of the Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Hospital, under Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, Section 13 (2) and 13 (1) E.
The ACB in its investigation report has found that the Wagh family s income is 90 percent more than their actual income. Wagh had not sought the government permission while flying to Dubai and he has not also filed his income details with the government department that is mandatory.

An Income Tax Inspector in Kolhapur was arrested by the Maharashtra Anti Corruption Bureau for allegedly demanding a bribe of Rs 10 lakh from a doctor to stall action in a case related to non-filing of returns, an official said on Friday.
The accused had received a complaint about property and assets of a homoeopathy doctor and he called the latter to his office and said he would be subjected to a fine of Rs 50 lakh for not filing returns for six years, the ACB official said. The accused first demanded Rs 20 lakh to stall action in this matter, then settled for Rs 14 lakh. He was arrested red-handed in a trap while waiting for his bribe instalment of Rs 10 lakh, he added.
