Delhi Police Commissioner reviews law, order situation ahead of MCD by-polls ANI | Updated: Feb 27, 2021 18:10 IST New Delhi [India], February 27 (ANI): Delhi Commissioner of Police SN Shrivastava on Saturday reviewed the law and order and crime situation in the national capital. He also reviewed the arrangements for bye-elections to 5 wards of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) - Rohini, Shalimar Bagh, Trilokpuri, Kalyanpuri and Chauhan Bangar. By-polls in five wards of Delhi s civic body, two of which fall under the North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) and three under the East Delhi Municipal Corporation (EDMC), will be held on Sunday. Shrivastava directed police personnel to keep a sharp vigil on borders in view of elections and the ongoing farmers protest.

Thane: Five held for jewellery store robbery in Mira Road

Unsplash Five persons have been arrested for their alleged involvement in an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Mira Road of Maharashtra s Thane district, police said on Friday. The accused had allegedly robbed a jewellery store at Naya Nagar in January and decamped with valuables worth over Rs 1.5 crore after brandishing a revolver at the staff, deputy commissioner of police crime Dr Mahesh Patil said. An offence under relevant sections of the IPC and Arms Act was registered and during the probe, the police first nabbed three accused based on technical inputs, the official said. The trio Dinesh Nishad, Shailendra alias Bablu Murari and Vinaykumar alias Sindu Chandrahas Singh were arrested from their hometown in Uttar Pradesh and jewellery worth over Rs 30 lakh were recovered from them along with cash and country-made weapons, the police said.

Mumbai Police took custody of gangster Ravi Pujari (second from right) from Bengaluru jail nd brought him to the city by road MUMBAI: Extradited gangster Ravi Pujari, who is wanted in more than 49 serious offences in the city, was produced before the special MCOCA court on Tuesday in connection with the 2016 firing at Gajalee restaurant in Vile Parle and remanded to police custody till March 9. The police said Pujari will be kept in highly guarded stone-brick lockup at the police headquarters at Crawford Market under 24x7 CCTV vigilance. The city crime branch has formed a special team of officers from the anti-extortion cell, led by inspector Sachin Kadam, to interrogate Pujari under the supervision of deputy commissioner of police (crime) Prakash Jadhav.
