Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) leaders are yet to decide on the candidate to fill the vacant Maharashtra Assembly Speaker’s post, days after the former Speaker, Nana Patole, was appointed the new State Congress chief.
Sharad Pawar, Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president, had told reporters in Delhi that the resignation of Mr. Patole had opened up negotiations on filling the Speaker’s post. “Now that he has resigned, the post will be open and we will decide on it in our meetings,” he had said.

Maharashtra: Nana Falgunrao Patole submitted his resignation as Speaker of Maharashtra Assembly on Thursday (February 4). He is set to be the new Pradesh

Patole handed over his resignation to deputy speaker. He was elected to the state assembly in 2019 and was made Speaker when the Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) formed the government.
Patole will lead the state unit of Congress. Reportedly, Congress leaders in Delhi have spoken to chiefs of the other two ruling parties, including chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and Nationalist Congress Party chief Sharad Pawar, and the parties have agreed to the decision.

Mumbai: Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Nana Patole, tipped to be the next chief of the state unit of the Congress, resigned from his post on Thursday.
Legislature sources said Patole handed over his resignation to deputy speaker Narhari Zhirwal.
Patole, the MLA from Sakoli in Bhandara district, is likely to replace revenue minister Balasaheb Thorat as state Congress president soon, according to party sources.
