Maharashtra Covid lockdown news live: Recovery rate in Pune municipal limits increases to 95%

Delayed reporting of deaths by hospitals has led to a sudden surge in the state’s toll, with 2,291 deaths added in the last 48 hours alone. Of the total, 1,096 deaths that occurred over a week ago were added to the toll in the last two days as part of a data reconciliation exercise. The remaining deaths occurred on Monday (516) and Tuesday (679) and were reported as part of the state’s Covid bulletin. The toll on Tuesday rose to 83,777 from 81,486 on Sunday. Due to fewer tests conducted on Monday due to cyclonic weather, the state reported 28,438 cases.The Covid-19 positivity rate dropped to 15% in the Pune Metropolitan Region (PMR) on Tuesday.The Pune civic body has issued guidelines for better management of its vaccination drive, as inoculation is set to resume on Wednesday following arrival of fresh stock of doses. Congress s Rajya Sabha member and former national president of Indian Youth Congress Rajeev Satav died at a private hospital in Pune due to post-Covid complications. PUNE: Congress s Rajya Sabha member and former national president of Indian Youth Congress Rajeev Satav died at a private hospital here due to post-Covid complications on Sunday. He was 47. Satav was an alumni of Fergusson College. After testing positive, he had recovered and tested negative. But he suffered from bacterial infections which damaged his lungs and he succumbed, state health minister Rajesh Tope said. Satav was admitted to the hospital in April-end and was on ventilator support.

Police said Vijay Navalgire was allegedly brutally beaten by a group of five men near his house in Ambernath town at around 3pm. THANE: A man was allegedly beaten to death by a group of people in Ambernath town of Maharashtra s Thane district on Thursday, police said. Two persons have been detained in connection with the attack, a video of which has gone viral on social media, an official said. According to the police, Vijay Navalgire was allegedly brutally beaten by a group of five men near his house on B Cabin Road around 3pm. The victim was dragged out to the street and thrown, the official said.
