Thane: The Thane municipal corporation controlled by Shiv Sena rejected a proposal to accept compensation from the National High Speed Rail Corporation Ltd, in charge of the bullet train project, for the transfer of nearly 2000 hectare land, effectively rejecting the transfer of the land.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray has on Tuesday urged the administrative bodies to remain vigilant in the wake of the new fast-spreading coronavirus strain detected in the United Kingdom.

The decision comes after the Maharashtra government imposed a night curfew in municipal areas of the state for 15 days to rule out the spread of coronavirus cases.

In a meeting chaired by Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray against the backdrop of a new coronavirus strain being reported in the United Kingdom, it has been decided to impose a night curfew in all municipal corporations in the state from December 22 to January 5. The curfew will be imposed from 11 pm to 6 am.
