This paper evaluates the city of Mumbai’s 1991 and 2034 development plans and finds inherent infrastructural inadequacies. It calls on urban-policymakers to complement development plans with robust dynamic health strategies that consider technological advances and epidemiological changes. Public-private partnerships should be encouraged to overcome the challenges of funding and technology adoption in health planning. The newly built airport at Chipi will get operational later this month, possibly on the Republic Day. The airport will give a fillip to tourism in the coastal district of Sindhudurg, which Maharashtra wants to develop as an alternative destination to Goa. At present, most tourists travel to Sindhudurg and nearby places by road or through Konkan Railway. The airport is being developed by Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC), which had awarded a contract to IRB Infrastructure Developers Limited for building and operating the airport.

On Tuesday, a male sambar strayed into a factory in Pune and was rescued safely. A three-member team of officials accompanied by forest officials reached the spot (Representative Image).   |  Photo Credit: iStock Images Key Highlights The sambar deer is a vulnerable species under the IUCN Red Data List Pune: A male sambar seeking shelter at a factory in Chakan, Pune, on Tuesday was rescued by officials of the forest department on Tuesday. The sambar was rescued from GE India located at Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation (MIDC).  After spotting the sambar, the employees of the factory alerted the officials of the forest department. The forest department called the Wildlife SOS and RESQ Charitable Trust for help in rescuing the male sambar.
