MSCB Scam: All you need to know about alleged involvement of Ajit Pawar in Jarandeshwar sugar factory case

Amidst the ongoing war of words between the MVA government and the Centre over the role of central agencies, Enforcement Directorate (ED) attached Jarandeshwar Sahkari Sugar Karkhana (factory) in Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) scam.
The Jarandeshwar Sahkari Sugar Karkhana, located in Chimangaon-Koregaon and worth over Rs 65 crore, was attached under an anti-money laundering law in connection with the alleged Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank (MSCB) scam by the ED on Thursday, which also claimed that a company allegedly linked to Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his wife were involved in the matter. These allegations have been denied by Pawar.

BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis on Friday said the ongoing investigation of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the alleged Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank scam had nothing to do with politics.
The Central agency, which has attached Jarandeshwar Sahkari Sugar Karkhana (factory) in Satara district in connection with the scam, claimed on Thursday that a company linked to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar and his wife was involved in the case.
Pawar, on the other hand, denied any link and said earlier probes by various agencies did not establish anything.

Former home minister Anil Deshmukh left for Delhi to seek legal opinion and file a petition in the Supreme Court against ongoing ED probe in connection with money laundering case following corruption charges made by former Mumbai Police Chief Param Bir Singh.
Meanwhile, the NCP, which is one of the constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) government in Maharashtra, on Friday alleged that there was a conspiracy to malign the image of the party and its leaders.
NCP s chief spokesperson and Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik made the statement a day after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) sealed a sugar mill allegedly linked to state Deputy Chief Minister and senior NCP leader Ajit Pawar.

As the Enforcement Department (ED) continues to investigate the Jarandeshwar Sugar Mill case in Maharashtra s Satara district, it is now alleged that 41 other cooperative sugar mills in the state were also sold at meagre prices.
The said mills were allegedly sold by the Maharashtra government and Maharashtra State Cooperative Bank between 2008-2014 for a value of Rs 5 crore to Rs 65 crore each.
