For the last 10 days, the
Ramwadi underpass on Nagar Road, which connects Kalyani Nagar and
Viman Nagar and also serves as an alternative route to reach
Pune airport, has been shut and this closure is likely to go on for at least six more months, authorities have declared, thanks to Pune Metro work slated by
Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Limited (
MahaMetro) at the spot.
However, it turns out that there is absolutely no sign of work on site at the moment because most of the workers have fled to their native place in view of the strict COVID-19 restrictions being imposed by the state government and
Pune Metro: European Investment Bank Sanctions Second Tranche Of Rs 1,335 Crore

The European Investment Bank (EIB) has committed a second portion of Rs 1,335 crore for Pune Metro Rail Project,
Economic Timesreports.
This funding from the EIB will be used for the construction and operational purposes of the Corridor 1 (North-South)-Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) to Swargate and also Corridor 2 (West-East)-Vanaz (Kothrud) to Ramvadi. It will also be used to procure metro coaches.
The entire route is 31.25 km long.
The Pune Metro Rail Project seeks to roll out an economic, safe, efficient and pollution-free mass rapid transit system to the city which currently has only heterogeneous traffic options. The Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MAHAMETRO) is the concerned implementing agency for the project.

The Government of India (GoI) and European Investment Bank (EIB) here today signed the finance contract for second tranche of Euro 150 million for Pune Metro Rail project through a virtual signing ceremony. The Government of India (GoI) and European Investment Bank (EIB) on Friday signed the finance contract for second tranche of Euro 150 million for Pune Metro Rail project through a virtual signing ceremony.
EIB had approved the total loan of Euro 600 million to fund the Pune Metro Rail project. The Finance Contract for first tranche of Euro 200 million was signed between GoI and EIB on 22.7.2019. The project aims to provide efficient, safe, economic and pollution-free Mass Rapid Transit System in densely populated area in the city of Pune served with heterogeneous traffic options.
