Jesuits in India that run educational institutions have written to Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil and requested immediate medical attention for Father Stan Swamy, an accused in the Bhima-Koregaon caste violence who is lodged at Taloja Central Jail.
Father Joseph Xavier wrote a letter to the Minister and made an appeal on behalf of family members and friends to take necessary action to immediately shift Fr. Swamy to a good hospital and provide medical care.

In the latest development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday booked former Maharashtra home minister Anil Deshmukh under the Prevention of Corruption Act and Indian Penal Codeâs section 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
The CBI said on Saturday that its preliminary enquiry (PE) has found that a prima facie cognisable offence is made out against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others pertaining to alleged corruption and misuse of power.
The CBI said that Deshmukh and some unknown others had attempted to take undue advantage for improper and dishonest performance of their public duty .

Mumbai: In a shocking development, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) said on Saturday that its preliminary enquiry (PE) has found that a prima facie cognisable offence is made out against former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh and others pertaining to alleged corruption and misuse of power.
The CBI said that Deshmukh and some unknown others had attempted to take undue advantage for improper and dishonest performance of their public duty .
The PE was ordered by the Bombay High Court earlier this month.

Maharashtra Home Minister Dilip Walse Patil on Sunday warned of action against those violating the restrictions imposed by the state government to contain the spread of COVID-19.
The tough new measures, which exclude essential services, came into force on Wednesday night and will remain in force till 7 am on May 1.
Section 144 of CrPC, prohibiting the assembly of five or more people at one spot, will remain in force during the period. In order to curb the rising number of COVID-19 infections, curfew order and restrictions should be effectively followed. Action will be taken against those who violate orders, Walse Patil tweeted.
