Council commence $150,000 CBD footpath works

Gladstone Regional Council have commenced footpath works in the CBD as part of the Gladstone CBD – Walking Network Plan and Priority Works project. Council will construct a 2.5 metre wide footpath from 1 Goondoon Street (Gladstone Yacht Club) to the Lord Street roundabout. These footpath works are part of the Gladstone CBD – Walking Network Plan and Priority Works project which is fully funded by the State Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads’ Queensland Walking Strategy 2019-2029. The $150,000 project also includes footpath works on Tank Street, which commenced on April 19 with an expected completion date of May 22 2021. The Lord Street works are expected to be finished by 10 June 2021, weather permitting, with the works to be carried out between 6am and 6pm, Monday to Saturday.

New $9 7m Reef Resilience vessel to be based in Gladstone

The 24-metre Reef Resilience vessel was unveiled on Friday by Federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley, Queensland Environment and Great Barrier Reef Minister Meaghan Scanlon and Manufacturing, Regional Development and Water Minister, Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher. Ms Ley said the Reef Resilience vessel was jointly funded by the Federal and Queensland governments under the Reef Joint Field Management Program. Paint the Town Purple this Friday for Cancer Council

Everyone is encouraged to wear purple to work on Friday, May 7, to support people affected by cancer, in conjunction with Relay for Life 2021. The colour purple, which represents all types of cancers, has been adopted as the primary colour for Relay for Life. Workplaces can get involved in painting the town purple in a variety of ways to support the cancer council. Show your support by decorating your workplace purple to support Relay for Life, have a purple morning tea in your purple decorated lunch room, create a purple menu item, change your email signature to purple, or display Relay for Life posters and collection boxes.

Stronger Communities Gladstone share in $2 5m DV funding

The partnership funding between state and federal governments aims to help domestic, family and sexual violence service providers respond to the complexities and challenges resulting from COVID-19. Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said $56,387 would help Stronger Communities Ltd provide a vital service helping families in the region with domestic and family violence. “It is fantastic to see the Stronger Communities Ltd as one of the successful recipients as they assist victims of domestic and family violence and support them in the safest and most appropriate way for their individual needs,” Mr Butcher said.

Vital community service gets funding boost

The funding for the Gladstone Neighbourhood Centre means it can continue to deliver vital services to the community. Member for Gladstone Glenn Butcher said the centre was a cornerstone of the local community. “It provides services and support to some of our most vulnerable residents,” Mr Butcher said. “We are pleased that the Gladstone Regional Council will continue as the operator of the neighbourhood centre, working in conjunction with other service providers and local support services to deliver vital community and social supports to local people.
