Krishna Janmabhoomi: Fresh plea seeking digging in Agra s Red Fort filed

A fresh plea has been filed in the Mathura mosque land case, seeking the court s directions to the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) or any other competent authority to scientifically dig out Lord Krishna s sculpture buried under the stairs of a small mosque next to Diwan-e-Khas at the Red Fort in Agra by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb in 1669 . The petition filed on Thursday also demanded that the recovered idols be safely placed at the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple complex. The court will take up the matter on April 19. The petition filed by advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh, stated that several historians have mentioned in their articles that Mughal ruler Aurangzeb took many sculptures, including that of Lord Krishna, from Mathura to Agra after demolishing the Thakur Keshavdev ji (Krishna Janambhoomi) temple.

Photo: PTI Religion29/Jan/2021 Mathura: A Mathura court on Thursday dismissed all nine pleas seeking to have a say during the adjudication of some lawsuits for removal of the 17h century Shahi Idgah mosque from near the birthplace of Krishna here. The impleadment pleas were rejected by District and Sessions Judge Yashvant Kumar Mishra, Mathura’s District Government Counsel Sanjai Gaur said. A total of three lawsuits challenging the decisions of a senior civil judge ruling, rejecting the plea earlier for the removal of the mosque, are pending before the court of the district and sessions judge.
