Buy And Preserve The McDonald Farm Saturday, March 6, 2021
I just saw an article about the county possibly buying the McDonald Farm. I strongly ask everyone to support and speak out in favor of the acquisition.
But no less importantly, I would strongly urge everyone to ask the county to do so not for the purpose of creating yet another industrial park, but for the purpose of protecting and preserving an incredibly beautiful place for the benefit of both current residents and, more importantly, future generations as well.
We live in a world where natural beauty and open spaces are rapidly being consumed by sprawl and irrevocably lost. Let’s preserve the McDonald Farm as a reminder and monument to our county’s legacy for those who will follow us. By preserving that legacy, we can underscore not just the importance of what we have enjoyed, but the importance of the future land use decisions we make.
Hamilton County expects to make offer on McDonald Farm which has $15 39 million asking price yahoo.com - get the latest breaking news, showbiz & celebrity photos, sport news & rumours, viral videos and top stories from yahoo.com Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday newspapers.
Curtis Coulter Releases Book On History Of Sale Creek An Excursion To The Past Tuesday, February 23, 2021
Curtis Coulter s An Excursion to the Past is a unique, historical book of two small towns in America with long histories, beginning in 1775 with the sale of 20 million acres of land by the Cherokee Indian Nation to the Transylvania Company. That event sparked the great Indian Wars of East Tennessee that led up to the April 29, 1779 auction that gave Sale Creek its name.
Other major historical events included Fields Settlement (precursor to the name of Sale Creek as the community name), the Gideon Blackburn mission to the Cherokee Indians, first settlers, the first schools beginning in 1840, the Civil War years, the Welsh coal mining venture beginning in 1867, the coming of the Cincinnati Southern Railroad in 1880, and the great strawberry and peach growing businesses from 1900-1953 which put Sale Creek on the map.
It all started with an agritourism plan
Roden Echo Valley LLC
When Jacki Moegenburg was a junior at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, she worked with one of her professors to put together a business plan for an agritourism venture on her family’s dairy farm in West Bend, Wis. After graduating in December of 2013, she started to build the business using money she had saved, support from her family, and a passion to educate. The following year she hosted tour groups and held her first two weeks of “Farm Camp” in the summer of 2014. Today, Moegenburg works part-time on the dairy and manages Roden Barnyard Adventures, which consists of farm camps, farm tours, birthday parties on the farm, and winter sleigh rides.
