Arch installation to close I-20/59 and McFarland Boulevard this week

After closing lanes on Interstate 20/59 and McFarland Boulevard to remove a faulty arch earlier this month, state contractors are closing them again to erect a non-defective arch starting this week. From 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, the outermost, eastbound lane of McFarland Boulevard – the side headed toward Skyland Boulevard – that flows under the I-20/59 bridge will close so construction crews can install a section of the arch on the westbound side of the interstate. The following week, McFarland Boulevard’s outermost westbound lane directly – the side headed toward Northport – will close under the interstate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Jan. 28 so construction crews can safely install another section of the arch.

Closures Coming as Contractors Add New I-20 Arch Over McFarland Stop me if you ve heard this one before  McFarland Boulevard will be closed under I-20/59 next weekend as a team of contractors works to install a new structural arch two weeks after pulling down one that was deemed defective. Closures begin next Tuesday from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m., when the eastbound outside lane of McFarland Boulevard will close to allow the contractor one section of the arch. Two days later, on Thursday, January 28th, the outside westbound lane will close for the same time period during another partial installation.
