Families are encouraged to continue to report their child’s illness to Health Services. Staff are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Staff can help identify COVID-like symptoms and explain the isolation and quarantine process. Tentatively the district is planning for middle and high school students to return to the hybrid learning model on February 4th. The transition days for this would be February 1st and 2nd, which would be no school days for secondary students.

Anisa Omar, started the Ignite the Youth movement that urged the Mankato school district to use funding allocated for school resource officers for afterschool programs and mental health services. The goal: help curb the achievement gap. “Ignite the Youth was founded after the tragic murder of George Floyd. A group of current students, former students as well as young community members came together to take on a campaign where we could see changes,” explained Omar.

PAUL, Minn. (KEYC) Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz says the state will open nine community sites this week to vaccinate adults over 65, pre-kindergarten through 12th-grade educators, school staff and child care workers. The program announced Monday expands the rollout beyond the first high-priority group that includes health care workers and long-term care residents and staff, who began receiving doses last month. The announcement comes after the Democratic governor criticized the federal government for uncertainty over the supply of doses. Walz says the state is receiving about 60,000 doses per week and it’s unclear when that supply will increase further.
