COZAD â An Omaha educator took offense at Fridayâs theme âMericaâ for FFA Week dress-up days. Cozad parents in response showed up with the Stars and Stripes outside of Cozad High School Monday morning.
Cozad FFA s celebration of National FFA Week included themed dress-up days at the high school such as Boots and Sweats, a camouflage day and FFA blue and gold.
The theme for Friday was âMerica.â FFA students were to wear their Folds of Honor shirts and dress in red, white and blue.
As a part of the theme, the Cozad FFA chapter held a 24-hour donation campaign for the Folds of Honor Foundation and challenged area communities, school staff, parents and students to donate.

Chicken Salad Chick is opening its newest Florida restaurant in St. Petersburg. The restaurant chain has 27 locations in Florida and has been rapidly expanding across the state. In January, the chain opened its Coral Springs location and Ocala is on schedule to be opened in late February, according to a press release.
Chicken Salad Chick will hold a grand opening week in the St. Petersburg location at 1221 4th Street North beginning March 2. During grand opening week, guests will experience the Southern hospitality that Chicken Salad Chick is known for, with giveaways and specials that include:
Tuesday, March 2: Free Chicken Salad for a Year – The first 100 guests will receive one large Quick Chick of chicken salad per month for an entire year, with one of those lucky guests randomly selected to win one large Quick Chick of chicken salad per week.

Lt. Col. Dan Rooney, founder of the Owasso-based Folds of Honor Foundation, got personal in his new book, âFly Into the Wind.â
In the book, Rooney includes a copy of a letter he once wrote to his wife, Jacqy. The letter was to be given to Jacqy in the event that he did not return from a combat deployment.
Hereâs an excerpt:
âPlease donât let the girls forget their dad, and teach them about me as they get older. Keep the legend alive of the Roller-Coaster Man, Freeze Monster and the Wolf,â Rooney wrote, referring to characters he portrayed while playing games with his daughters.
