Mattapoisett library reading star wins signed Bruins jersey

Mattapoisett library reading star wins signed Bruins jersey Standard-Times Finn Poulos is one of a select group of young people to receive Boston Bruins prizes for their outstanding participation in Mattapoisett Free Public Library’s summer reading program, organizers announced in a press release. Chris Matos, head of the library s children’s department, was excited for the prize winner. “We had an unusual summer last year with our program being just kits for the children to pick up, so it was great to have a special incentive for everyone to get excited about,” said Matos. Finn Poulos couldn’t be happier, organizers said. He said he’s going home to hang it on his wall.

Mattapoisett Library awards program for kids to be held virtually

Jan 16, 2021 MATTAPOISETT  For the safety of children and families, the Mattapoisett Free Public Library’s Annual Quahog Award Program for children in third through sixth grade will be virtual this year. Beginning Jan. 26, teachers, students and parents can participate by logging into the new Beanstack Book Logging Program.  As students read and track their books, they will receive prizes, activity and craft kits, and invitations to Zoom programs, which will include virtual bingo and a dance party.   Finally, all participants who complete the program will receive a prize and be entered into a final drawing for gift cards to Barnes and Noble bookstores.

Here s what happened to Mattapoisett s bikeshare program

MATTAPOISETT  With a mile of bike path already constructed and more on the way, Mattapoisett seems like the perfect town for a bikeshare program.  But when bikeshare company Veoride  tried to bring bikes to the town, they were gone just as quick as they came.  “Let’s call it a failed business model,” said Friends of the Mattapoisett Bike Path President Bonnie DeSousa.  Bikeshare programs, which allow riders to pick up and drop off bikes around the towns they’re in at an hourly rate, can usually be found in larger cities. But some smaller towns experimented with the service, to little avail.

Even with 20 years of teaching art, the new way of educating young students has presented new challenges and triumphs.
