Council approves request for Food Truck Rally

MINSTER – A summer celebration, a renewal of tennis courts and discussion to renew a levy were all part of the discussions at the Minster Council meeting Tuesday night.
Council approved a request by the Minster Historical Society to close a portion of 4th Street by the museum for their third annual Food Truck Rally to be held on June 6 from 3 to 10 p.m.
Council agreed to a request for bids to redo the east tennis courts by the school. Village Administrator Don Harrod said the estimated cost of $100,00 will be shared equally by the school district. He added they had done the same work on the courts west of the school two years ago.
BOE accepts playground expansion grant

MINSTER – The Minster Board of Education met in regular session Monday evening, March 15, to accept a playground expansion grant and to hear updates on legislation related to education.
The board accepted a $2,500 from the Lima Area Chamber Foundation for playground expansion under that chamber’s “Activated School Challenge.” This challenge supports projects that support student health, nutrition and well being. The playground expansion includes an area for imaginative/creative play which falls within the guidelines of this grant. K-8 principal Leanne Keller applied for the grant.
Artists encouraged to apply for mural project

NEW KNOXVILLE – April 2 is the deadline for any artist or studio to submit a proposal suggesting ways to represent Neil Armstrong in large two-dimensional mural project at Neil Armstrong Airport.
Airport Manager Ted Bergstrom said the vision of the New Terminal Building Mural Committee is to enhance the historic connection between Neil A. Armstrong and Auglaize County, incorporating his passion for aviation and space flight.
The committee includes Rachel Barber, Auglaize County Historical Society; Erica Preston, county administrator; Brad Smith, Auglaize County Airport Authority secretary; and Bergstrom. The New Bremen Foundation is underwriting the project.
