Marjorie Taylor Greene Actions Deeply Disturbing, Human Rights Campaign Says

The Human Rights Campaign (HRC) called on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to strip Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments.
Greene, who represents Georgia s 14th congressional district, has become the subject of huge criticism this week following a series of media reports showing her previous support for conspiracy theories.
HRC is the largest LGBTQ advocacy group and political lobbying organization in the U.S. The group issued a statement on Friday saying Greene had supported sedition and domestic terrorism.

Greene has spread debunked conspiracy theories on everything from 9/11 to school shootings.
A Democratic-led effort is underway to have Greene booted from the House of Representatives.

Pressure is growing on House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy to strip Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of her committee assignments after a series of reports about her previous support for conspiracy theories.
Greene, who represents Georgia s 14th congressional district, is currently seated on the House Education and Labor Committee and the House Budget Committee, both chaired by Democrats.
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi joined a chorus of criticism on Thursday aimed at Greene and the perceived inaction on the part of GOP leadership to admonish her.

“Congresswoman Greene’s comments and actions are dangerous, unpatriotic, and a clear threat to every Member of Congress,” Williams said in a statement Friday. “It would be irresponsible for us to allow her to use the ‘People’s House’ as a platform to peddle discredited conspiracy theories that only fan the flames of hatred and violence.”
Williams argued that Greene should resign immediately to allow someone to fill her seat who believes in upholding the Constitution and the mission of this legislative body to serve all people, not harm them.”
In her own statement along with the press release, Jacobs accused Greene of repeatedly demonstrating “her support for the execution of leaders of the Democratic Party, and her presence in Congress is a threat to our democracy, our institutions, and the safety of every person who works in the Capitol.”
