An injured great horned owl is on the mend at a Napanee-area wildlife centre after being rescued from the median of Highway 401 near Brockville on Wednesday.
Const. Rob Sinclair of Leeds County OPP was on patrol when he spotted the dazed bird, which was believed to have been struck by a car.

The owl was wrapped in a jacket, tucked in the back seat of a cruiser and ultimately taken to the Sandy Pines Wildlife Centre, where the last report was that it was doing well, the OPP said.

A former Kingston junior and minor hockey player, now a young business owner, has taken on a fundraiser in which he participated as a minor hockey player and has changed the beneficiary to a local organization that feeds the poor.
Max Emelifeonwu, 19, along with friends, former teammates and employees, collected 175 trees over the first two weekends in January and donated $1,800 to Martha’s Table.
