BELLOWS FALLS â The Windham Northeast Supervisory Unionâs office is leaving its longtime location at the former St. Charles School in favor of a renovated office in Westminster Station.
The building, on Route 5, is the former home of two accountants and tax preparers: Annette Spaulding, who owned the building and later rented the space to Catherine Harris. The current owner is Green Mountain Station Realty LLC, with the principals listed as Margaret and Robert Palmer. The new lease is for $48,000 a year.
Superintendent Christopher Pratt said the office would start moving immediately, with the move starting the week of Feb. 15. WESTMINSTER â A group of Vermont parents is suing the state and three school districts, including Windham Northeast Supervisory Union, over âunequal access to education.â
According to the Liberty Justice Center, which is representing four families, including Brianna Schaefer, of Grafton, and Sara and Louis Vitale, of Athens, the stateâs educational tuition system âviolates the state constitution by allowing children residing in certain school districts to attend the school of their choice and denying the same right to others.â
The Liberty Justice Center, according to its website, has a team of lawyers who âfight to protect students, families, entrepreneurs and other Americans whose fundamental constitutional rights have been violated.â

BELLOWS FALLS â A school search committee has evaluated 28 different buildings in its quest to find additional classroom space for seventh- and eighth-graders at Bellows Falls Middle School.
The middle schoolâs upper grades have been restricted to two days a week of in-person classes since September because of the space restrictions imposed by the state in response to the coronavirus.
Bellows Falls Middle School Principal Karen Bukowski told the Rockingham School Board Monday evening that her committee was looking all over the community for the additional space.
Superintendent Christopher Pratt said that so far no space was deemed the right fit. He said requirements for students are more demanding than for adults, and that ventilation was a big consideration.
