The Hall County Sheriff’s Office provided over 100 bicycles to local families in need Friday during their annual Christmas Bicycle program.
According to a press release from the Sheriff’s Office, 112 bicycles were provided to those in need at no cost. Bikes were provided to 37 individual families and to the Edmondson-Telford Child Advocacy Center, Hall-Dawson CASA Program and Hall County Victim Services.
Hall County Sheriff Gerald Couch, members of the agency’s command staff and deputies distributed the bikes Friday morning at Sheriff’s Office headquarters on GA 369/Browns Bridge Road. Santa was also at the event, helping greeting families and helping them load their new bikes into vehicles.

A Gainesville man is in jail charged with trafficking heroin and methamphetamine. Agents arrested 52-year-old Delbert Channie Tucker on Thursday, December 17, while searching a residence in northwest Hall County.
During the search, agents with the Gainesville/Hall County Multi-Agency Narcotics Squad seized drugs worth an estimated $400,000 on the street, the Hall County Sheriff’s Office says. The search took place at a residence in the 5600 block of West Waterwood Drive off of Dudley Hill Road.
Local drug agents seized a variety of illegal drugs and $83,000 in cash during a search of a home on West Waterwood Drive in northwest Hall County Thursday night.
Derreck Booth, spokesman for the Hall County Sheriff s Office, estimated the street value of the narcotics at $400,000. In the course of the short-term investigation, agents seized approximately eight pounds of methamphetamine, two pounds of marijuana, eight grams of heroin and $83,000 cash, Booth said in an email statement.
Delbert Channie Tucker, 52, was arrested without incident at the scene.

Delbert Channie Tucker, 52, faces charges of trafficking heroin and meth as well as possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, after narcotics agents executed a search warrant Thursday at a West Waterwood Drive home.
Hall County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Derreck Booth said the officers seized roughly 8 pounds of meth, 2 pounds of marijuana, 8 grams of heroin and $83,000 in cash.
A Stone Mountain man remained in the Hall County Jail Wednesday afternoon after brandishing a gun at a security guard at a Buford Amazon facility Saturday evening.
According to Derreck Booth, Public Information Officer with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office, 32-year-old Treval L’veander Howard went to the Amazon warehouse facility on Lanier Islands Parkway to pick up an employee he knew at the end of her shift.
Howard entered the building but was asked to leave by security since is not an employee. Howard then brandished a handgun at a security guard, according to Booth.
Howard then reportedly punched a deputy in the chest as the deputy patted him down for weapons.
