Sultan was an inspirational leader, teacher, mentor and friend to students, faculty and staff from across religious affiliations and backgrounds. He was called a “diamond” in the life of Princetonians and was credited with influencing a generation of Muslim students on campus. Letter from President Paxson: Justice for George Floyd; our work continues Following the conviction of Derek Chauvin, Brown President Christina H. Paxson wrote to the community about the justice many have hoped for since the murder of George Floyd and the need for continued action to confront anti-Black racism. PROVIDENCE, R.I. [Brown University] After approximately 10 hours of deliberation, a panel of jurors on April 20 returned guilty verdicts on three counts in the trial of Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer charged with murdering George Floyd. In the wake of the verdict, Brown University President Christina H. Paxson wrote to the Brown community about the justice so many have hoped for since the murder in May 2020 and the need for continued resolve to effect real and meaningful change.

Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life, Center for Academic Equity celebrate new space

In 2019, Tulane announced that the Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Office of Gender and Sexual Diversity, along with Religious Life, would be renamed the Carolyn Barber-Pierre Center for Intercultural Life in honor of Carolyn Barber-Pierre, assistant vice president for Student Affairs and Intercultural Life, who has worked at Tulane for more than 30 years, serving the student community and moving the university toward a more inclusive environmental for all.
