The Biden Administration Can t Have It Both Ways on LGBTQ Students Rights and Religious Freedom

Will Biden’s Obsession With Compromise Poison His Agenda on LGBTQ Rights? An opaque court filing in an anti-LGBTQ discrimination case has advocates asking if this administration will “bargain down” the rights of students to reach an uneasy peace with Republicans. Doug Mills/Pool/Getty Images After a somewhat obscure court filing in an anti-LGBTQ discrimination case, reported Tuesday by The Washington Post, the Biden administration is now facing serious doubts about how far it is willing to go in the fight for LGBTQ rights. The filing doesn’t get into the facts or merits of the legal challenge, but early readings of its language around shared objectives between anti-LGBTQ religious schools and the administration have left media observers and LGBTQ rights groups trying to glean their arguments from it. A warning over frivolous lawsuit with dangerous claims

A warning over frivolous lawsuit with dangerous claims Thursday, May 20, 2021  |  Chris Woodward (OneNewsNow.com) Spanish The Council for Christian Colleges and Universities is asking to intervene in a legal challenge against the U.S. Department of Education because what is on the line is the ability of faith-based campuses to live out their religious beliefs. The legal challenge is known as Hunter v Department of Education, which involves former and current LGBT students who want to revoke the religious schools exemption that is found under the Title IX anti-discrimination law. The CCCU is an international higher education organization of more than 180 Christian institutions, and so in response to this lawsuit, we filed a motion to be an official participant so that we can defend the Title IX religious protections, explains CCCU president Shirley Hoogstra.
