R. Ashok Chairperson of State Human Rights Commission Justice S. Baskaran distributed revolving fund to caregivers of persons with mental disabilities who are part of SUBITCHAM (a family fellowship for mentally retarded and mentally ill) and NAMMBIKKAI (a self-help group of caregivers) - both functioning under M.S. Chellamuthu Trust and Research Foundation headed by C. Ramasubramanian, State Nodal Officer of Police Well Being Programme.

MADURAI: The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court on Thursday reprimanded the State Secretary of Finance (Salaries) Department for disobeying the orders passed by the court and sought an explanation from him. Justice M S Ramesh was hearing a contempt petition filed by one S Dhanalakshmi, a government school teacher, who has been awaiting reimbursement of her medical expenses since 2019.

MADURAI: Pointing out how in a majority of road accident death cases, the responsibility is fixed on the driver of the bigger vehicle even when it is the victim who violated the rules and contributed to the accident, the Madurai Bench of Madras High Court observed that such a mentality should be reviewed.
Justice K Murali Shankar made the observation earlier this month while partly allowing an appeal filed by the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC)- Pudukkottai division against a motor accident tribunal s order dated June 30, 2015 directing it to pay Rs 6.6 lakh as compensation to the victim s family.
