Central California storm: Madera Co. sheriff declares state of emergency; flood advisory for parts of Valley KFSN
Madera County Sheriff Tyson Pogue has declared a state of emergency as a strong storm pushes into Central California.
Pogue said his main concern is the chance for mud and debris flow that could impact roadways or possibly leave people stranded as widespread rain continues to fall. By declaring a local state of emergency it allows for some exceptions to county purchasing rules and it s a formal request for assistance from the state and federal officials. Bottom line is, the added resources and streamlined regulations keep Madera County safer and enables our community to recover from disaster faster, Pogue said.
