Multiple product samples were tested by the Missouri Department of Agriculture and found to contain very high levels of aflatoxin. Aflatoxin is a toxin produced by the mold Aspergillus flavus and at high levels it can cause illness and death in pets. The toxin can be present even if there is no visible mold.

If you have this product in your home, you are asked to safely dispose of it immediately in a way that any animal or human cannot consume it, and thoroughly wash any container it has come in contact with during its time in your home and thoroughly wash your hands after any contact with the product.

ABC 27 News reports that at least 28 dogs have died while eight others have become sick as a result of eating products produced by Midwestern Pet Food Inc. These deaths and illnesses may be attributed to “potentially fatal levels of aflatoxin” a harmful substance produced by mold grown on corn and other grains within the food.
