Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) Chair Ezekiel Mutua on Friday evening, January 22, accused award-winning actress Lupita Nyong o of disrespecting Tourism CS Najib Balala.
In a statement, Mutua indicated that Lupita s remark was totally inappropriate and uncalled for. She should have picked her phone and just say Waziri, I am here. I am ready to serve my country. Being a global icon should come with some loyalty to your country and respect for elders!

Tourism CS Najib Balala has explained why he appointed British Model, Naomi Campbell, as Magical Kenya International Tourism ambassador rather than the Kenyan award-winning actress Lupita Nyong o.
The CS explained his decision while addressing researches at the Kenyatta University on Thursday, January 21.
A section of Kenyans had opposed the idea while others reserved their opinions.
Balala alleged that Lupita s managers blocked Tourism officials from accessing her and that the saga dragged on for five years.

Naomi Campbell named Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador

British model, Naomi Campbell, has been named as the Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador. The announcement was made by the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, after a meeting presided by the Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife, Najib Balala.
Magical Kenya helps with exploration and discovery of the untold wealth of destinations and experiences available to visitors. On the Magical Kenya website, visitors are presented with diverse and niche product offers with endless opportunities for relaxation, culture, incentive, adventure, coast, sports safaris and community tourism.

The government is turning to personalities to change the fortunes of the tourism industry hit hard by the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The tourism industry, which was targeting to generate Sh189 billion in 2020/21 Sh22 billion more than what they collected in 2019, is among the worst-hit sector by the pandemic, losing Sh80 billion between February and June 2020.
The latest sign-up being British Super Model Naomi Campbell who on Tuesday agreed to be Magical Kenya International Tourism Ambassador. In her new role, she will help promote the marketing of Kenya as an ideal tourism and travel destination to the world.
“Naomi Campbell will be Magical Kenya’s International Tourism Ambassador. That doesn’t take away from our domestic market, it only strengthens it. #MagicalKenya,” twitted Mr Balala.
In an official statement on Tuesday, the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife said Ms Campbell had been tasked with promoting Kenya as an ideal tourism and travel destination to the world.
This, according to the ministry, was agreed upon following a meeting between the 50-year-old English model and the Tourism CS.
The news of her appointment has stirred controversy among Kenyans with many expressing their displeasure on social media.
In 2017, the Tourism Ministry also got a backlash after appointing Ugandan dancehall artiste Edrisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, as Kenya Tourism Board (KTB) ambassador.
